Cube Houses смотреть последние обновления за сегодня на .
Rotterdam is a city of striking modern architecture. While all of the buildings are quite impressive, the most innovative and creative of all might be the Cube Houses, tilted 45-degrees in their playful, yellow color. These cubical structures look unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the world, and you can actually go inside them and even stay overnight. In this video, I’m going to share what it’s like to stay in one of the most unique houses in the Netherlands. Instagram: 🤍 TikTok: 🤍 Twitter (All in Japanese): 🤍 Contact: nomadicwes.work🤍gmail.com
#ROTTERDAM #CUBEHOUSES #ERASMUS A cutting-edge housing concept Architecture in Rotterdam is famously some of the most innovative and creative to be found anywhere in Holland. And even after more than 30 years, its Cube Houses remain one of the city’s most eye-catching developments. It’s easy to see why: these striking homes are cubes tilted 45-degree on their side, optimized to make the most of the available space. The result is buildings that look, feel and behave unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere in the world. Dutch architect Piet Blom designed Rotterdam's Cube Houses in the late-’70s at the request of the city’s planners. Blom had previously experimented with cubic architecture in the Dutch city of Helmond. So when he was offered this project in the Oude Haven area of the center, he decided to expand upon his original ideas. Interestingly, the Cube Houses even form a pedestrian bridge across one of the busiest roads into the city center. The Cube Houses were designed asymmetrically to resemble an abstract forest, each triangular roof representing a treetop. The residences were constructed on concrete pillars with wooden framing. Standing at three-floors tall, their ground floor is the entrance, the first floor contains an open kitchen and living room, the second floor houses a bathroom and two bedrooms, and in some cases the top floor is used as small rooftop gardens. Once you step inside, the first thing to get used to is that all the walls are slanted. And as you enter the top half of the structure, your initial inclination may well be to mind your head. The Cube Houses are centrally located next to the Rotterdam Blaak railway station, with the Oude Haven’s thriving restaurants and cafés right on the doorstep. And they were designed with community very much in mind – as well as acting as a pedestrian bridge, the traffic-free area that connects the cubes includes a little children’s playground, as well as small offices and studios. Tilted at a 55 degree angle Rotterdam’s “Cube Houses” (Kubuswoningen) seem to defy gravity. Dreamed up by architect Piet Blom in the 1970s to help the city turn a downtown overpass into housing, this oblique housing was Blom’s attempt to defy the idea that “a building has to be recognizable as a house for it to qualify as housing.” Blom perched each slanted cubic residence on a pillar to create individual “tree” houses and connected them all to form an urban “forest”. Lilian raised her son Mitch in their cube home and while the square footage is small (some are just 240 square feet), the cubic footage is much larger. There are no straight exterior walls and opening or closing a window can be a battle with gravity. Today, Lilian and Mitch run their home as a guesthouse, but they said living in the home meant keeping possessions to a minimum. “A lot of people bring a lot of stuff into their house, but then you lose the effect of the building because already it has it's own vibes, or it’s own atmosphere.” The Cube Houses are now one of the city’s top tourist attractions, and an Instagram favorite. One of the two extra-large “super cubes” is now a hostel. Lilian and Mitch’s rental cube: 🤍

This is one of the most interesting works of architecture I have ever seen. Dutch architects usually have great creativity and inspiration for something like this! So, I took a video of the interior of this building when I was there.
Rotterdam's biggest attraction is the Cube Houses. Designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom, this residential development stands apart as its homes are literally cubes, tilted over by 45 degrees. One of the houses is a museum, where you can see how the houses are decorated. Cube Museum (Kijk-Kubus) costs 3 € to enter and then you can go explore the strange cuve house decoration. Personally, I HATED the Cube houses. Have you visited Rotterdam? What is the one thing that comes to your mind when you think about it? Indeed, Rotterdam’s modern architectural style is one of the most intriguing aspects of the city, which is unusual compared to the native European architectural context. Still, the city is also well known for its architectural masterpiece- the cube houses (commonly known as Kubuswoningen) designed by architect Piet Blom. CUBE HOUSE (You have to see it to believe it!!) Rotterdam, Netherlands. Cube houses (Dutch: Kubuswoningen) are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level, since its main purpose is to optimize the space inside. Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest. In May of 1940, the entire city of Rotterdam was destroyed. Monumental buildings were bombed, leaving behind a shell of the former Dutch capital. Rather than let the city wash away with a defeat, what arose was an opportunity: to make a Dutch city more architecturally unique and modern than any other. One of the city’s most iconic commissions was that of the cube houses, designed by Piet Blom in the 1970s. A splash of yellow in an otherwise gray setting, these buildings were designed to resemble trees within a forest and create a sense of community for the residents. 📹: 🤍 Rotterdam’s cube houses are a must-see when visiting Rotterdam • THEY ARE BUILT ABOVE A PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE – adding it to the list of epic bridges around the world. • EACH HOUSE IS TILTED AT 45 DEGREES. Certainly the sharpest homes in the city! • AND YES, PEOPLE LIVE THERE! So try not to gawk into their windows too much on your exploration. There is, however, one way to get a peek of what happens beyond the closed doors... • YOU CAN TOUR THE INSIDE. While most of the cube houses belong to private residences, one crafty entrepreneur allows visitors to tour his building, for a fee. • THE WALLS ARE DIAGONAL, so no going to Ikea to pick up furniture. Houses like these require special attention and most likely custom furniture. • EACH HOME IS THREE STORIES HIGH. Residents have three full stories of space to transform into their perfect home. The entryway welcomes you to the ground floor, on the first floor you'll find the living room and kitchen, then at the top, you'll find bedrooms and a bathroom. • MANY OF THE HOUSES HAVE THEIR OWN SUNROOFS, so you’ll have plenty of light no matter which angle you are facing. • YOU CAN PLAY LIFE-SIZE CHESS IN THE COURTYARD Can you get a checkmate when your friends and family are the pieces? • YOU'LL FIND A NOT-SO-SECRET VIEWPOINT, located just outside the cube house complex’s courtyard. Be sure to make a stop at the barriers overlooking the colorful port and skyline; grab your phone and snap a photo before you go! • IT'S LOCATED ACROSS THE STREET FROM ONE OF ROTTERDAM'S OTHER ARCHITECTURALLY INNOVATIVE MARVELS: market hall. Stop by this futuristic food hall and unwind with a traditional Dutch delicacy. • ROTTERDAM CUBE HOUSES ADDRESS: Overblaak 70, Rotterdam, Netherlands - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Copyright © 2021 All Rights Reserved To Globe Traveller Group channel - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 🎵The copyright-free music by WinkingFoxMusic from Pixabay - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 😱 Instagram: 🤍 😌 Pinterest: 🤍 #CubeHousesRotterdam #CubeHouseNetherlands #CubeHouseDesign #CubeHousesRotterdamInside #NetherlandsTour #NetherlandsTourism #NetherlandsTourVideo #NetherlandsWalkingTour #NetherlandsCityTour #Rotterdam4k #HollandaTuru #НидерландыТУР #NiederlandeTOUR #नीदरलैंडटूर #荷兰之旅 #PaysBasTour

Rotterdam (/ˈrɒtərdæm/ or /ˌrɒtərˈdæm/; Dutch: [ˌrɔtərˈdɑm] is a city in the Netherlands, located in South Holland, within the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt river delta at the North Sea. Its history goes back to 1270 when a dam was constructed in the Rotte river by people settled around it for safety. In 1340 Rotterdam was granted city rights by the Count of Holland and slowly grew into a major logistic and economic centre. Nowadays it is home to Europe's largest port and has a population of 633,471 (2017, city proper), ranking second in the Netherlands, just behind Amsterdam. The Greater Rijnmond area is home to approximately 1.4 million people and the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area makes for the 168th most populous urban area in the world. Rotterdam is part of the yet larger Randstad conurbation with a total population of 7,100,000. The city of Rotterdam is known for the Erasmus University, riverside setting, lively cultural life and its maritime heritage. The near-complete destruction of Rotterdam's city centre during World War II (known as the Rotterdam Blitz) has resulted in a varied architectural landscape including sky-scrapers, which are an uncommon sight in other Dutch cities. Rotterdam is home to some world-famous architecture from renowned architects like Rem Koolhaas, Piet Blom, Ben van Berkel and others. Recently Rotterdam was listed eighth in The Rough Guide Top 10 Cities to Visit and fifth in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2016 and was voted 2015 European City of the Year by the Academy of Urbanism. The port of Rotterdam is the largest cargo port in Europe and the 10th largest in the world. Rotterdam's logistic success is based on its strategic location on the North Sea, directly at the mouth of the Nieuwe Maas (New Meuse) channel leading into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta. The rivers Rhine, Meuse, and Scheldt give waterway access into the heart of Western Europe, including the highly industrialized Ruhr region. The extensive distribution system including rail, roads, and waterways have earned Rotterdam the nickname "Gateway to Europe", and, conversely; "Gateway to the World" in Europe. Cube houses Cube houses (Dutch: Kubuswoningen) are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level, since its main purpose is to optimize the space inside. Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest. The central idea of the cube houses around the world is mainly optimizing the space, as a house, to a better distribution of the rooms inside. The houses in Rotterdam are located on Overblaak Street, right above the Blaak Subway Station. There are 38 small cubes and two so called 'super-cubes', all attached to each other. As residents are disturbed so often by curious passers-by, one owner decided to open a "show cube", which is furnished as a normal house, and is making a living out of offering tours to visitors. The houses contain three floors: ground floor entrance first floor with living room and open kitchen second floor with two bedrooms and bathroom top floor which is sometimes used as a small garden The walls and windows are angled at 54.7 degrees. The total area of the apartment is around 100 square metres (1,100 sq ft), but around a quarter of the space is unusable because of the walls that are under the angled ceilings. In 2006, a museum of chess pieces was opened under the houses. In 2009, the larger cubes were converted by Personal Architecture into a hostel run by Dutch hostel chain Stayokay. Rotterdam Blaak is a railway station and metro station in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, located on the Breda–Rotterdam railway between Rotterdam and Dordrecht. The station is located in the centre of the city, near the cube houses and the Markthal. On 2 May 1877 the first railway station on this location was opened, then called Rotterdam Beurs. This station was part of a 2.2 km (1.4 mi) long viaduct. After the station had been destroyed during World War II, a new station opened in 1953, called Rotterdam Blaak. When the underground metro station was opened on 6 May 1982, space was already reserved for a possible underground railway station directly underneath the metro station. On 15 September 1993, this new underground railway station was opened, as part of a 2.8 km (1.7 mi) long tunnel. This tunnel, including the station, now had 4 tracks instead of the 2 on the viaduct. The cube houses, also called tree or pole houses consists of a tilted wooden cube with one point on a concrete hexagonal core. In this "tribe" are the entrance and the stairwell. The cube has three levels: the 'street house' with kitchen and living room, the "sky house" with the bedrooms and the "leaf hut" at the top. Only in the core you can find vertical walls; the rest of the walls are slanted. Zijn ontwerp vertegenwoordigt een dorp in een stad, waar elk huis een boom voorstelt, en alle huizen samen, een bos. Cube houses (Dutch: Kubuswoningen) are a set of innovative houses built in Rotterdam and Helmond in the Netherlands, designed by architect Piet Blom and based on the concept of "living as an urban roof": high density housing with sufficient space on the ground level. Blom tilted the cube of a conventional house 45 degrees, and rested it upon a hexagon-shaped pylon. His design represents a village within a city, where each house represents a tree, and all the houses together, a forest.
