One day and the last day of our trip exploring sunny Freiburg im Breisau was definitely a good idea! We started off with the most delicious Brunch in Hermann’s Cafe with nice view and atmosphere and walked along the old town. There is beautiful nature all around and just like that you can go up on the top of the Castel Mountain where is also very nice Beer Garden with breathtaking view! If you are looking for some adrenaline I would recomend to go up on the Castle Hill Tower, it is a 35 m high observation tower. Its top is located 463m above see level. A little video made in Freiburg im Breisgau. A wonderful small town with its unique atmosphere and coziness. One day would love to come to Germany on my motorcycle and just test the speed on their highways.
Freiburg im Breisgau is located in southwest Germany. With the Black Forest area around it has a reconstructed medieval old town and is also a vibrant university city. We start the tour in the southern city centre at the Schwabentorbrücke. We head towards the Schwabentor which is a landmark city gate from the Middle Ages. Now on a summer evening in the old town people enjoy relaxing in many of the cities cafés and restaurants. Near the Martin's Gate we go to several side streets and eventually the Rathausplatz, where the city hall is. We make it to the Freiburg Minster with a 116m spire, which is also impressive inside. This Gothic cathedral towers over the central square Münsterplatz and is one of the main attractions of the city. We see more of Freiburg's lively streets streets and make it to the west side of the city centre with Freiburg Theatre and the modern design of the university library. Going further to the central station after seeing the Colombi Park the weather gets rainy. We head back through the whole city and end the tour at the Schwabentor. Today I'm taking you in a trip to one of the most underrated cities in Germany - Freiburg im Breisgau, a charming and underrated city in Germany's Black Forest region. This is my first time in Germany! I explored the fairy tale town of Freiburg and loved every bit of it! Freiburg I’m Breisgau is a two hour train ride from Zurich and it lies in the Black Forest region of Germany, so there’s lots to see around Freiburg. In this video, I just walked around the old town of Freiburg which was super quaint, checked out the farmer’s market, walked up the bridge on the station, tried some beer, and tried the famous black forest cake :D One of the best things about Freiburg im Breisgau is that it's a green and sustainable city. Freiburg im Breisgau is a university city in Germany with a population of approximately 232.000 inhabitants. it is located in southern Germany and it is called the capital of the Black Forest. The city center has beautiful medieval buildings like the magnificent 116 m high Freiburg Cathedral in Gothic style, which are well worth a visit. Soon with new videos!
Thirty years ago today, I moved to Freiburg, where I lived for 26 years. So today, I celebrate that anniversary with this video! Freiburg is one of the most walkable cities in Germany, but it is fighting to undo decades of car-centric urban planning. It is home to one of the strongest cycling campaigns in Germany and recently doubled the size of its pedestrian zone. In this video, we look at some old photos to see what car-centric damage has been undone.

In the surrounding highlands, hiking destination Schlossberg hill is linked to Freiburg by a funicular. With a dramatic 116m spire, the Gothic cathedral Freiburg Minster towers over the central square Münsterplatz. Freiburg im Breisgau usually called simply Freiburg, is an independent city in the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Freiburg is the fourth-largest city in that state after Stuttgart, Mannheim and Karlsruhe. Freiburg straddles the Dreisam river at the foot of a Schlossberg and acts as the hub of the Breisgau region on the western edge of the Black Forest. An old university town and archiepiscopal seat, it was incorporated in the early 12th century and soon became a commercial, intellectual and ecclesiastical center for the Upper Rhine region. It is known for its Medieval minster and Renaissance university as well as for its high standard of living and advanced environmental practices. The city is situated in the heart of the major Baden wine-growing region and, together with Offenburg, serves as tourist entry-point to the scenic Black Forest. And so as the last decade has seen an unprecedented dominance of a select few ‘big’ clubs winning almost every trophy available, we have missed out on those new stories that football so brilliantly tells. So last season we sent Eli Mengem on a journey, to document the few ‘smaller’ clubs who somehow did have a chance at winning something, in order to share the new stories we’ve all been missing out on. From the south of Spain to the north of Turkey to the south west of Germany, Once in a lifetime is a new series telling the story of three very different clubs made up of three very different people, in three very different places, that all share one thing in common. A very long wait to win something. For our final episode, we headed to the very pretty city of Freiburg, home to SC Freiburg. A club who don't have any history in winning things on the pitch, but don't really mind, as their fans prefer to take pride in their achievements off it, which is all part of the regions calm and laidback attitude to living life. And so when the club qualified for their first final in 118 years, we travelled to Freiburg, then with the fans to Berlin to see just what happens to the most relaxed fanbase in Germany when they are on the cusp of finally winning something.
