They get an opportunity to reconsider the requirements and benefits, but the terminology used can be confusing and comparing options and schemes can be tricky. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟱 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮. Is it a case of money before members? Health Squared sold itself as a ‘dynamic, new-age medical scheme that is continuously challenging the status quo by delivering more of the healthcare benefits you need’. But for three years, it operated well under the mandatory solvency threshold of 25 percent without a word of caution to its members. Even as the financial situation deteriorated post-pandemic, with a rapidly dwindling membership and an above-average claims ratio from pensioners, members were oblivious that the writing was on the wall. When the axe finally fell, and the scheme applied for voluntary liquidation, members on chronic treatment for life-threatening diseases had mere days to scramble for alternative cover. The bombshell came in defiance of a bid by the Council for Medical Schemes to appoint a curator to protect members. In a lifeline to some, the court ruled that 54 members on dialysis would have their treatment and medication covered until the end of September, or until they joined another scheme. Plus, the East Anglian Air Ambulance must transfer a 66 year old man who is experiencing serious chest pains to the nearest hospital. Air Ambulance ER follows British medical teams as they take to the air in emergency situations. Going behind the scenes to show ambulances carrying out their life-saving work from the minute an accident is reported to the moment they reach their patient. The fast-paced action and aerial filming capture the courage of the team members that are on-call throughout the UK. Welcome to All Documentary the home of amazing documentaries! Do you know the conditions covered by your medical aid scheme? Well, according to a leading researcher, there is a lot of misinformation provided to consumers. This relates to what exactly is covered under the payment of Prescribed Minimum Benefits or PMBs. This has now resulted in a number of complaints to the Council for Medical Schemes over the past year. To discuss this we are joined in studio by Managing Director of Integrated Risk Solutions at Agility Global Health Solutions,Dr Jacques Snyman.
While a significant number of people in South Africa are on a medical scheme, few of us really understand the products we're on and whether it's the best option for our needs. Research from Healthbridge, a company dedicated to transforming the healthcare business, found that that medical savings start running out by May. By December about 60 per cent of claims are not covered by medical aids.Joining CNBC Africa to tell us how to choose the best medical aid option for you is Luis da Silva, managing director at Healthbridge, Finweek editor Jana Marais and Barry Rykaart, independent healthcare consultant at CureMED.

Each year nearly a million people in Europe suffer from a cardiac arrest. A mere 8% survives due to slow response times of emergency services. The ambulance-drone is capable of saving lives with an integrated defibrillator. The goal is to improve existing emergency infrastructure with a network of drones. This new type of drones can go over 100 km/h and reaches its destination within 1 minute, which increases chance of survival from 8% to 80%! This drone folds up and becomes a toolbox for all kind of emergency supplies. Future implementations will also serve other use cases such as drowning, diabetes, respiratory issues and traumas. Do you know how to administer first aid? Almost all of us remember some basic things about the rules of providing first aid. But is our knowledge correct, or is what we know too fragmented to be useful? Knowing basic first aid methods is very important, but it’s crucial to perform them correctly so as not to compromise the life you’re trying to save. TIMESTAMPS: Tilting your head back during a nosebleed 0:40 Forcing a fainted person to sit up 1:29 Putting heat on a sprain or fracture 1:59 Trying to remove debri from your body 2:31 Treating a burn too quickly 3:05 Going straight into the Heimlich maneuver for choking victims 3:37 Putting something in a seizing person’s mouth 4:10 Prioritizing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for heart attack victims 4:52 Not knowing what you’re doing 5:43 Using a tourniquet for a bleeding wound 6:17 Music by Epidemic Sound 🤍 SUMMARY: - Tilting your head back can make the blood travel from your nose to your throat, which means you could find yourself choking on or swallowing blood. - When someone faints, our immediate course of action is to try to sit them up, especially when shaking them doesn’t seem to be helping. Instead of all that, always start by checking their breathing and pulse. - Ice should be used for acute situations, like suddenly spraining your ankle. Heat is for chronic conditions, like back pain. - If the tool you use isn’t sterile or if you underestimate how deep the wound is, you risk getting an infection and doing further damage. - If the water is to actually help the skin, you need to hold the burn under it for at least 20 minutes. - The Red Cross has updated their guidelines on how to give first aid to choking victims, so instead of going straight for the Heimlich maneuver, here’s what you’re supposed to do instead. Stand behind the victim, lean them forward, and give their back 5 quick blows with the heel of your hand. - In a panic-induced state at seeing someone having a seizure, a lot of people immediately try to block the person’s mouth for fear of the victim biting their own tongue. This is actually dangerous for the victim and for the person trying to help. - A common mistake is to think that mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is more important than chest compressions. - The first line of action in all serious first aid situations is to call for help, and let a professional guide you through what you need to do. - If someone has a deep wound in their arm or leg, applying a tourniquet can stop the blood flow to the entire limb, which can actually starve the tissues of oxygen and possibly lead to amputation. Using a tourniquet should never be the first choice. Subscribe to Bright Side : 🤍 Our Social Media: Facebook: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 5-Minute Crafts Youtube: 🤍 For more videos and articles visit: 🤍
