A mole is like a dozen. It is a name for a specific number of things. There are 12 things in a dozen, and 602 hexillion things in a mole. We'll talk about what moles are and why they are important. We will see how to abbreviate the mole number (Avogadro's number) using scientific notation, and we'll see how giant this number is.
This video covers the term 'mole', explains 'Avogadros constant', and runs through examples of the sort of calculations you might have to do with moles. This video is suitable for: - Higher tier only - All exam boards - Triple and combined science
▪️Moles are a very common occurrence. There is no way to control the size or number of moles. Limiting sun exposure may help if you have multiple moles. ▪️Moles or Melanocytic Nevus can be of three types: 1️⃣Junctional: the Nevus cells are present at base layer of epidermis ( upper skin layer) 2️⃣Dermal: Nevus cells are present in deeper dermal layer 3️⃣Compound : Nevus cells are present in both lower epidermal and dermal layer ▪️Treatment This depends on type, size and site of mole. Smaller junctional moles can be removed with co2 laser or RF ablation Compound and dermal moles require excision and suturing to prevent recurrence. 👩⚕️Please visit your dermatologist for detailed evaluation and treatment if you want to get rid of a mole. #moles #skincare #skintreatment #dermatologist #dermatologistrecommended #skingoals Disclaimer: Content provided on this youtube channel is for informational purposes only. This is how you get rid of a mole infestation in your lawn. Go buy some worm shaped mole bait from amazon or a gardening store. Find one of the mole holes and drop the bait in. Then, be sure to cover the hole back up. Do that in a couple of the holes and you should be all good. Skin Cancer How To Tell If You Have It The ABCDE rule is a mnemonic used to help identify potential signs of skin cancer. Each letter represents a key characteristic to look for when examining a mole or other skin lesion: A - Asymmetry: One half of the lesion looks different from the other half. B - Border: The edges of the lesion are irregular, ragged, or blurred. C - Color: The lesion has different colors or shades, such as black, brown, tan, white, red, or blue. D - Diameter: The lesion is larger than 6 millimeters (about the size of a pencil eraser), although some melanomas can be smaller. E - Evolving: The lesion is changing in size, shape, color, or elevation. It is important to note that not all skin cancers follow these guidelines, and some non-cancerous moles may exhibit one or more of these characteristics. If you notice any changes in your skin, including the appearance of a new mole or changes in an existing mole, it is important to have it checked by a healthcare professional. #skincancer #skincancerawareness #melanoma #skincare #cancer #dermatology #skincancerprevention #sunscreen #skin #dermatologist #spf #health #pancreaticcancer #cervicalcancer #thyroidcancer #mohs #melanomaawareness #breastcancer #leukemia #antiaging #cancerawareness #cancersucks #cancersurvivor #throatcancer #infertility #botox #fibroids #plasticsurgery #herpes #mohssurgery
An unusual nose turns this tiny critter’s underground habitat into a field-of-plenty. #TheNatureOfThings #TheWildCanadianYear • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Like other moles, the star-nosed mole lives underground in burrows feeding on invertebrates like earthworms. It can’t see very well so it uses its remarkable nose to hunt. Each of the 22 appendages that make up the star is covered with tiny, sensitive projections known as Eimer’s organs. In total, the star-nosed mole has 25,000 of these mechanoreceptors, equipping it with perhaps the best sense of touch of any mammal. With this nose, the mole can examine the tiniest details in its subterranean environment allowing it to recognize and feed on tiny insects that are otherwise overlooked by its competitors. But that’s not all. This mole’s teeth resemble tweezers, so that it can efficiently extract prey out of the ground at lightning speed. It is the fastest-eating mammal on Earth; the star-nosed mole can find and eat prey in as little as 120 milliseconds. How to kill moles. If you're watching, then you know how frustrating it can be to have moles ruin your yard. I started using this method about 6 years ago after trying spike traps, poison worms, and other methods with very little success. If you want to get rid of the moles in your lawn, then you need an effective method that gives you proof of dead moles. The scissor trap is the most effective mole removal method available today. So simple that anyone can use it. To get rid of moles in your lawn, you need to do two things. Start with a scissor trap and then find an active travel run. A travel run is one that generally travels in a straight(ish) line going from point A to point B. This is not going to be a cluster of tunnels with mounds in it. Those are foraging locations and they aren't likely to return to the same exact spot. The travel corridors can be flattened out by foot and then checked on for return activity. In this video, the travel run had been flattened out by my garden tractor tires less than an hour earlier. The mole had already traveled through again. This is a perfect location to place a mole trap. Flatten it out again and set your trap. Buy scissor traps online at Amazon and have them shipped to your house! #moleremoval #Facemoleremoval #skinaaclinic Take Advantage Of Mole Removal Treatment Everything You Should Know About Mole Removal Why a mole may need to be removed Moles are common skin growths. You probably have more than one on your face and body. Most people have 10 to 40 moles somewhere on their skin, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Most moles are harmless and nothing to worry about. Unless a mole is cancerous, you don’t need to have it removed unless it bothers you. But if you don’t like the way it affects your appearance, or if it’s getting irritated from rubbing against your clothes, removing the mole is still an option. How do I find out if a mole is cancerous? The best way to know if a mole is cancerous is to see a dermatologist for an annual skin cancer screening. If you have a history of skin cancer, your dermatologist may recommend screening more often. Meanwhile, you should schedule a checkup with your dermatologist if you notice any moles that: are asymmetrical have irregular borders are not uniform in color have a diameter that’s larger than a pencil eraser are evolving or changing in size, shape, or color These are known as the ABCDEs of mole checks. These types of moles should be evaluated by a dermatologist, who can then decide if they should be tested for skin cancer. How is it done? (in office) A dermatologist can typically remove a mole during a routine office visit. Sometimes a follow-up visit is necessary to complete a mole removal. Two main types of surgical procedures are used for mole removal: Freezing. This procedure uses a small amount of liquid nitrogen to remove a noncancerous mole. Burning. This procedure uses an electric current to burn off the upper layers of a noncancerous mole. It may take more than one session to complete the mole removal. Shaving. This procedure involves using a surgical blade to shave the mole off the skin’s surface. Excision. This procedure goes deeper than shaving to excise the entire mole and stitch the skin back together. This type of removal is typically used if the mole is cancerous.

While the mole's other digits have multiple joints, the prepollex has a single, sickle-shaped bone that develops later and differently from the other fingers during embryogenesis from a transformed sesamoid bone in the wrist, independently evolved but similar to the giant panda thumb. This supernumerary digit is species-specific, as it is not present in shrews, the mole's closest relatives. Androgenic steroids are known to affect the growth and formation of bones, and a connection is possible between this species-specific trait and the "male" genitals apparatus in female moles of many mole species (gonads with testicular and ovary tissues). Diet A mole's diet primarily consists of earthworms and other small invertebrates found in the soil, and a variety of nuts. The mole runs are in reality "worm traps", the mole sensing when a worm falls into the tunnel and quickly running along to kill and eat it. Because their saliva contains a toxin that can paralyze earthworms, moles are able to store their still-living prey for later consumption. They construct special underground "larders" for just this purpose; researchers have discovered such larders with over a thousand earthworms in them. Before eating earthworms, moles pull them between their squeezed paws to force the collected earth and dirt out of the worm's gut. The star-nosed mole can detect, catch and eat food faster than the human eye can follow
