Since the first week of December, I've been working every single day. Often I bring my laptop home to 'finish some last essential things'. A classic disastrous recipe for burnout. For many, haze defines the meaning of 'cinematic'. When there is haze, the image looks cinematic. In this lighting tutorial, we're diving into the use of haze. There are some essential tricks to get the best results which will be discussed in the video. I'm using the 🤍aputurelighting 600D, which the kind people at Aputure loaned to me. Soft light can be created using a million different ways (and on a budget), like bouncing light, shooting through diffusion or you can even combine the two, called a book light. In this video, we take a look at how an IKEA curtain can do a terrific job that makes your expensive softbox make a run for its money. We talk about two configurations, a regular diffusion setup, where you shoot the light straight through the diffusion, but we also dive into book lights. A book light refers to a technique often used in Hollywood productions, where you basically beam your light into a reflective material, that bounces through a sheet of diffusion to create a nice, soft light onto the subject. The great thing about the use of the latter is that it allows you to use different reflectors which will result in a different quality of light.
